Jimonn Cole

Jimonn Cole is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia. He received his BFA from Juilliard in 1997 and received the John Houseman Award in his senior year.

Since graduating, Cole has worked professionally under the direction of Joe Mantello, Phylicia Rashad, Oliver Butler, Doug Hughes, Michael Kahn, JoAnne Akalaitis, Garland Wright, Sir Peter Hall, Walter Dallas, Darko Tresnjak, Liesl Tommy, Bob Balaban, Tina Landau, Roger Rees, and Alex Timbers, among others.

His Broadway and off-Broadway credits include Hillary and Clinton, black odyssey, Peter and The Starcatcher, Our Lady of 121st Street, Iphigenia 2.0, X or Betty Shabazz vs. the Nation, Public Enemy, The Conscientious Objector, Museum, Pullman Car Hiawatha, and The Last Black Cowboy (which he wrote and starred in, and which was selected for the New York International Fringe Festival). His regional credits include work with Yale Rep, the Old Globe, Crossroads Theatre, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Arena Stage, New Jersey Shakespeare Theatre, the Shakespeare Theatre DC, and The Ahmanson. His television credits include Blue Bloods, The Blacklist, God Friended Me, Madam Secretary, and The Equalizer.

In 2020, after having spent a year shadowing his mentor Richard Feldman at Juilliard, Cole was named the Drama Division’s inaugural teaching fellow. In that role, he studied under senior members of the acting faculty, observing classes at all levels of training and assisting on projects. Since then, he has continued to work alongside Feldman, guiding first-year actors in Improvisation and Scene Study as well as directing projects.
